Wine Country Retreat

A contemporary Dutch gabled barn and seamless indoor-outdoor living informed our design for this dramatic Napa retreat. Along with substantial renovations to the main house, our client requested a new garage, gym, and office. Our solution was an elevated utilitarian structure housing three garages, a west facing gym/office with private veranda, and a grand central passageway with large fireplace/hearth, hidden bar, and dramatic beamed ceiling. With fifteen-foot bifold steel doors on both ends, the passageway is ideal for welcoming guests and ushering them from the new motor court into the now-formalized courtyard between the house, guesthouse, and natural tree-lined creek border. Work in the main house included a new foyer, chef’s kitchen, pizza oven and grill, indoor and outdoor fireplaces, recreation room, and updated primary bedroom/bath.
